Hello, my iCab browser is behaving strangely. The prefs window won't show up anymore, even so the browser itself works as "normal". And btw. I am still running on MacOS 8.1 here - and yes, I did rebuild the desktop file twice over. |

This rings a bell with me. I think I had this issue with the PPC version of iCab 2.9.9 at once. If my memory serves me right, I had to delete the prefs file in the System Folder and set up everything again. Did you recently change your resolution, could your preferences window just be "out of bounds"?

Well, I did mess with my resolution a lot lately but to be honest, my iCab Prefs window has been gone for some time. Its only now that I moved my setup to B-II for Linux that I am trying to seriously do some web browsing with the classic setup. If memory serves me right, that prefs window appeared once and then - poof - was gone as soon as I tried to save said preferences.

Unable to replicate - the Prefs window is always in the same place for me. And when the Prefs window is open, iCab is largely inoperable until the window is dismissed. So even if hiding off screen you would know. Is it a mouse issue - does the shortcut key work? It does NOT for me - brings up Save dialog! If removing the iCab Preferences folder didn't fix it, then it sounds to me like an interop bug with your setup.

ell, my iCab window is only "grayed out" until I click on it a couple of times and then it changes back to normal. That's the weirdest thing about it, for I, too, expected it to stay unresposive until I could close that hidden prefs dialog box.

Did you try setting the resolution higher and see if the window appears somewhere? Otherwise, you may use ResEdit and peek into the WIND resource. It should have the preference window somewhere. Should give you an idea of where on the screen it should appears and/or gives you the opportunity to change that.
