Turned on my trusty 9500 yesterday and found it won't boot up properly anymore :-( It was working fine last week (on 7.5.5 BTW). I get the startup chime, but nothing on screen - just black. No audible disk activity. Booting off CD does not work either. I disconnected the external drives, but no change. Also individually disconnected the internal hard drives but still no go trying to boot off CD. I changed the processor card for another but no change. Battery is ok at 3.68v I can't think what could have gone wrong just sitting there for the last week. What do you reckon? Thanks, G. |

Have you tried pulling the Ram cards and reseating them? A royal pain in the 9500 I know, but might be worth a try.

mac2geezer knows what he's talking about! With everything else eliminated, I faced up to the fact I was gonna have to go through the pain of removing the mother board and RAM! Took all the RAM out bar one, and it worked. So one by one, I proceeded to put it 10 sticks back, testing (and breaking some plastic clip) each time, hoping to find the RAM that killed it. Except it still worked with all the RAM back in. Stupid thing!
