Hello everybody, I did some tests with emulated Mac cpu's, to point out that you can still continue working, with System7, even after your old Mac broke down. The emulated Mac cpu's are : Motorola 86040 (BasiliskII) MPC 601 (SheepShaver) A good host system for emaculation will be Windows2000pro or XP. If those are hard to find SuseLinux11 is a free alternative. These are some scores of different cpu's, Mac OS was 7.1 for Basilisk and 7.6 for SheepShaver. MiniBench scores Basilisk SheepShaver Pentium3/650 13 27 Atom N270 26 38 Intel E2180 60 90 AMD X2 64 5000+ 70 136 As I already told, a P3 is sufficient to run the emulation at moderate speed with the "just in time compiler" active. My 7100/80 in comparision gives me a MiniBench score of 20. If you are looking for something really fast, check for AMD cpu's. Best wishes, System7 forever! |
