Can I turn that off?  I had forgotten how annoying that is, when I'm forced to restart, and then my restart is delayed by a window telling me how I should shut down in the future, to avoid that window.  I'd love to disable that window if possible.

You should shut down the computer properly this is done by selecting shut down from the special menu do not just turn the power off.  A proper shut down will make that window go away.

By shutting the power off you can corrupt the hard drive.

Are you serious or are you just messing with me?

I know the proper way to shut down, which is why that window annoys me.  The only time I see it when I am forced to restart because the computer locks up on me, and that is why I'd like to turn that window off.  When I want to turn the computer off, I select "Shut down."  The only time I see that annoying window is when I'm forced to use Ctr+Command+on/off to force a reboot because the machine has locked up on me.  Then the machine, which left me with no other choice (other than to leave it frozen forever), scolds me for having forced a reboot.

Sorry Mr.E I missed the locking up part.  I work very hard to keep my system locking up minimum.  As for turning  off message I do not know how that is done.  I have known mac users who just flip the switch.

I am not on OS 7.6 at the moment, but I believe that the control for the dialog box is in the "General" control panel.

In the "General Controls" control panel, deselect "Warn me when the computer was shut down improperly."

You guys are my heroes, again.  Goodbye to annoying lectures from my laptop about situations it brought about.  Thanks.
