It worked, and now it doesnt. I even bought a MAC radeon 7000 and I still get nothing that resembles the boot screen on my 9600. I tried the *SAME* card on my Starmax and it works perfectly. I used one particular PCI slot, and I get a moment of time where the screen recognizes some sync, and then it falls back into sleep mode.

The 7000 works great in my starmax, but doesnt work in my 9600 which I was planning to use.

I havent had real good luck with macs lately :(

It probably is defaulting to a refresh rate or resolution (or both) that your display does not support.

thats intresting, i pressed the cuda button and reset the nvram, and it seemed to default to 640x480 on the starmax...

I guess I'll check out the old card and get a new adaptor.

I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but I noticed on ebay recently someone selling Mac Edition 7000's and in the description he said these are *NEW* cards direct from ATI with an updated ROM. They are 64Meg cards and it goes on in the specifications to say that System 9.2.x is required, which means G3 or better CPU. Could you maybe have one of these newer cards with a different ROM than the older 32Meg cards??

All the cards "require" 9.2.x with ATI's latest drivers.  I am fairly confident even the newest ones should work.  Can you post a link to one of these auctions?

Thanks - I strongly believe these will work.  Perhaps I'll buy one and find out.

Works on my new B&W with Ubuntu fine.

Even worked out of the box on my starmax too.
