It's a new compatible clone of the Farallon MacRecorder, created by @Tashtari and demik.

It offers two modes - a Audio Digitizer one where it imitates a Farallon MacRecorder and gives some System 7 Macs audio-in capabilities. And there's a MIDI Interface Mode, where it imitates the input of an Apple MIDI Interface.

Both PCB and code are open source:

It sure sounds like exciting news for 68k Mac owners. Can't wait for the first dealers to stock them and getting one for my IIci :-)

Seems a little odd they only included Midi in, and no out (let alone thru)...using an ancient Mac as a Midi instrument IS a very cool idea, but you'd think it'd be more useful running really old sequencing software to drive a real synth via out, eh?

I used to have something almost exactly like this on my Amiga, but it had out and thru ports also.  Gave it away decades ago and regret it today!

That'd definitely be a cool addition. I think they picked this route because they were essentially looking for way to replace the scarce MacRecorder, which some older 68k Macs use for audio in (think of those little nice beige micros).

I may sign up for one once the early adaptors signal satisfaction (and it gets available in the EU, of course)
