I'm not familiar with Mastodon myself other than reading about it. Apparently it is a decentralized social network type of thing that doesn't infringe on your rights like Big Tech does.

Macstodon is a new client written in MacPython 1.5.2 for Mac OS that lets you post toots and view timelines using a Mastodon server. It has been developed on a Macintosh IIfx running System 7.1.1.

System requirements are a 68020 or higher processor, at least 1.5 MB of free memory, System 7.1 or higher and 32-bit addressing enabled along with extensions like CFM-68K Runtime Enabler and ObjectSupportLib. (they come included)

Thanks to fogwraith for the tip.

I’m on Mastodon  - I joined a server earlier this week. I hope to try Macstodon soon.

I’m just getting started with Mastodon so I don’t have much to report.  I’ll share more here after some time to get used to it.

nah I stay away from pitfalls and cesspools that say there going to duck tape your mouth if you say an opinion they don't agree with which leads to the inevitable break down of society into tribal warfare example would be Rome circa 476AD or even better yet 313AD hence why I avoid like 99% of social media except for Facebook for its marketplace feature and discord

One item I can share about Macstodon.  It requires that you use a proxy server to handle HTTPS, otherwise it can't communicate with any Mastodon server that requires HTTPS (which most of them do).  The developer makes this clear in the README file.

I have Cameron Kaiser's Crypto Ancienne setup on my Mac Mini, but I'm not sure if it can be made to do what Macstodon requires.  I'm no expert, so perhaps it is possible.  The developer recommends another option with which I'm not familiar.

Mastodon itself has been a nice experience so far.  It's fun being on a server focused on retro computers, and I'm learning how the whole things works.  I'm not a social-media fan (abandoned both Facebook and Twitter in 2019 and haven't looked back), but this seems different and so far I've enjoyed it.

Nice! I'm not a Mastodon user, but it's either way a good addition to the platform :)

Is this akin to Craig's list for if yes , I'd stay away from that. I hate neighborhood committees trying to regulate thought & expression even more so then when big corp does it.
