Recently got my hands on a new-old stock Mac SE programmer's switch. Does anyone know how to add that thing to the machine? In the service manual for the SE that I have, it's only featured briefly in the "how to disassemble" section. How do I correctly install the switch? |

From memory, I think it just clips on! If you look at the left hand side through the vents, you can probably see the switches inside (towards the rear). Clip the plastic piece within the vents, positioning it so that the fingers engage with the switch inside.

That is my recollection as well. I remember it on the left and a bit toward the front. As I recall if you look closely at the vents I think you will notice a couple vents that are a bit different than the rest. The programmer's switch will just snap in there.

Thanks guys! I've checked on the left side and saw something that looked like small buttons through the vent. Plugged in the switch and tada, it works. Now I need to get MacTCP config to work and I'm ready to explore the BBS world on a 4 MB Mac SE ;-)

Great work on this, Bolkonskij! I always knew you were a mad-genius, but then I'm sure your kiddos already knew this

No need to mock me, cballero :-) This is my first programmer's switch install. And before plugging some 30+ years old plastic into somewhere I would have liked to get as much info as possible, hence this thread. Might be helpful to somebody else looking for the same thing.
