Hey everyone, looking for a small utility that does just one thing - display the RAM slots and its population (memory size) on my Mac IIci running System 7.1. Anyone knowing of such a software? Single-purpose apps highly preferred over big do-it-all suites ... |

RAM Charger is definitely overkill, but I think you can shut down any unneeded portions of it? It's been ages since I played with any memory and even hardware-focused tools (part of my 'virtualized' Mac life lol) http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/ram-charger-301 Just a quick though of a tool I know gave me some useful RAM specs

Thanks for the recommendation. I installed it. Unfortunately, ramcharger 3.0.1 does not do what I need. It just optimized memory allocation on the fly. I need a program that shows me what RAM module sits in what RAM slot on my IIci. Guess I'll pop in a few shareware CDs and look for something that might do the trick.

I had a look through my utility collection but unfortunately came up blank. Lots of utilities giving RAM total amongst a plethora of other data, but no RAM module info. Two items worth mentioning though... Apple System Profiler 2.1.2 gives this info, albeit on PPCs only (and requires 7.6). Guru (freeware from Newer) is a nice source of info about what Macs *should* have in the RAM department, like no. of slots, speeds etc.sÃ

System Watch (SWatch), Zone Ranger and Memory Meter. Unfortunately I couldn't find any of them on the Garden and got no clue where I got them from. Send me a private Msg. if you want me to e-mail them to you.

Sounds awesome! I'd really appreciate that. Any chance you could upload them to the Mac Garden? I'd offer to flesh out the entry there, just upload it?

Thanks to mrdav I've got System Watch 1.2 and ZoneRanger to try out on the IIci. System Watch display heap info on all running processes, but no individual RAM module info. ZoneRanger gives info on free blocks, used pointers, handles and resources etc. used per application. That's cool, but also not what I was hoping for. Seems like there isn't such a tool existing for the "dumb" memory of the old days as my other searches also turned up nothing.
