Did some game testing today on the Radeon 7000 equipped 200mhz Power Mac 8600:

Nanosaur:  Plays perfectly.  Fast.
SimCity 3000: Plays perfectly.  Fast.
Civilization II: Call to Power:  Plays perfectly.  Fast.
Caesar III:  Plays perfectly.  Was fast before the Radeon.  Now very fast.
Marathon Infinity:  Plays perfectly.  Very very fast.
Descent II: Plays perfectly, very very fast.
Diablo:  Plays perfectly, fast.

THESE GAMES DO NOT RUN UNDER MAC OS 7:

Rainbow Six
Quake (rather surprising)
Bugdom

Will do more games as I find more demos.

UPDATE:

Quake does, in fact, run on Mac OS 7.  I just had the wrong version of Quake.  It plays amazingly on the R7000, with full resolution and all options turned on.

To my surprise, it also plays very well on my 133mhz PowerBook 1400c, when set to 320 x 240 pixel doubled.

Hello!

What about trying these games to see how they run under System 7.6.1 with a Radeon...

Tomb Raider Games...
Close Combat 2 : A Bridge To far...
RUNE...
Future Cop...

In fact, a LOT of good stuff is here for you to try for free...

Also, good games to "push" the system that don't have demo's available but should run under System 7.6 would be "Klingon Honor Guard", "7th Guest",etc.

Your site is totally cool and I cannot wait to see some of your future game/system 7/Radeon reviews!!!!  Keep up the great work!!

ANOTHER UPDATE:

I forgot about one little factoid about newer Radeon cards, and that is they dont accelerate well (or at all) under 256 colors.  Only Thousands and Millions.

To see what I mean, launch "Grapher" on an OS X Mac with a Radeon, make a 3D graph with z=xyr as the equation, and see how poorly it performs with your display set to 256 colors.  Same effect on OS 7.  So sadly, some games that refuse to run in anything other than 256 colors may not get too great results.

Although, strangely, Quake seems to run very well.

Thanks for all those demos!  I shall try them on my 8600 as soon as possible.  Hopefully some of them will run in thousands or millions of colors.
