1 Hardware / Performa 6400 RAM upgrade woes

Hmm.. I'm not familiar with System 7 - do you think it could have shown 16mb because of the Virtual Memory?
2 Hardware / Performa 6400 RAM upgrade woes

New here but couldn't find another thread that dealt with this problem so...

I've been trying to help a local charity (Women's Institute) squeeze a little more life out of their Performa 6400 (MacOS 7.5.3).  Yesterday, I replaced the original monitor with a 15" flatscreen, and that worked fine.

I'd also bought two sticks of RAM off eBay, simply described as:

Micron MT9LD872G-5 X 64MB 168-pin EDO DIMM Memory

I found the RAM slots (eventually), pulled out the original 16mb, and pushed in the new 128mb.  But the 'About this Mac' section still shows 16mb.

What do I need to do before the computer recognises the new RAM? I'm assuming I've fitted it correctly otherwise it wouldn't work?

Many thanks for your advice!
