Ah I see. That port that looks like a parallel port on the 8600/200 is actually a SCSI port correct? No way this printer will work then. |

Hi all, Wondering if anybody has ever connected an HP LaserJet 1100 or something similar to a PowerMac 8600/200 running System 7.6.1? Do I need special drivers and if so where could I find them in this day and age? I see online that maybe running the LaserWriter 8.6 driver would work with it since it's a PCL driver? The LserJet 1100 runs PCL 5e. Drivers on HP's website range from DOS to Windows to Linux, but nothing for Apple gear. Are there any built in drivers in System 7.6.1 specifically for PCL 5e? Still searching the web. Will let you all know what I find out. It would be nice to bring my old printer back to life at my new office at work. Thanks, Jovan |

Hi all, I think the timing is quite random. I turned it off to time it today and in the next minute it turned itself back on. Other than that the machine seems to work perfectly. I have it sharing a drive via AppleTalk to a beige G3 running OS 8. This 8600/200 is running OS 7.6.1. It does lock up but only when I’m running certain open applications. I leave it idling all day and it’s always ready to go. |

I don’t have it set to turn on, yet after an hour powered off it will turn itself on again. Faulty power switch maybe? |

I installed Interactive Quantum Mechanics On The Macintosh on my PowerMac running System 7.6 yesterday. I think I have it installed on two of my three running machines so far. Works on Mac OS 8 as well. https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-1-4612-2492-1 I also installed Macaulay to exercise what I learn about algebraic geometry. Up next will be Macintosh Common Lisp when I get a spare chance. |
