Software / Mactools version 3

I picked up this mac utility in a thrift store. It says it is good for OS 6.03 and OS 7. I wonder if it works on 7.6.1 and above. I know it is limited to the HSF file system. |

Are these machines ok for 7.6.1 with the sonnet upgrade ? 7.6.1 can get along with a lot less memory can't it ? |

Hardware / Duo maintenance

I have a Duo 230 which I have used for all kinds of household databases in Excel. The trackball started to act up, and after a few attempts to open it up, I've let it set for about six months. I finally used a rubber gripper made for old folks to open up bottles to turn the trackball cover and open it up. A little bit of lint was all that had disabled this machine. I was thrilled it only needed cleaning. I was thinking the worse. I wish I could buy a new battery for it. It runs 7.1 |

Thanks for the Info. I have used lib moto and speed doubler before. Ram doubler helped on my machines that were limited in memory slots. |

Operating System / 7.6.1 vs 8 Why Faster ?

I have a 8600 with 200 604e. Even with os 9 it seems to be as fast or faster than some of my newer macs. I thought 8 was made specifically for powerpc vs 68k machines. Does the 7.6.1 have an upgrade for native ppc code vs emulation or is it faster due to it's smaller footprint? |
