Hardware / update.
July 29, 2006, 23:15 |
thanks for those who offered to help me. I somehow managed to get on the internet one day (after being frustrated for days). I really don't know how we fixed it but I bought another Ethernet card (comm slot one, not the pci one). I also bought new batteries for my computer. I still couldn't get on. I think it has to do something with unlocking under user mode (advance). It is found under tcp/ipp preferences. I remember doing this to pci ethernet card but didn't work but worked for the comm slot ethernet card. well, thanks again......... ![]() Ps. it sucks because most of the websites now requires higher browsers, that requires you to have OS X to view flash, etc. |

Maybe this will help you. When I installed the Apple built-in Ethernet extension, I recieved this alert: "An error occurred while trying to start up your AppleTAlk connection. The built-in LocalTalk port will be used instead. " |

Hardware / HELP!! Umax on the internet threw use of an eathercard

OK, so I took out the Ethernet card and reinstall it again but to slot B this time. I went under Apple System Profiler/ Devices and Volumes/ PCI/ Slot B1. The Card type says: NOT AVAILABLE. I installed in Slot A1 USB card. The Card type says: USB. Why does it say NOT AVAILABLE? I checked the back of my computer tower to see if the light for the ethernet is blinking. Yes, two colors are flashing. Green (link) and Orange/Yellow (ACTIVE). Is there something wrong with my Ethernet card? I bought it off EBAY. |

Hardware / Can't get the Ethernet pull down menu option to show up...
June 24, 2006, 05:42 |
I upgraded my OS from 7.5.5 to OS 9.1. I still did not get the "ethernet" pull down option. I also downloaded the .sit file you requested. I put the extenstion in my extension folder, restart it. It still did not show up the "ethernet" option. I did another OS installation (this time clean installment). When I went to TCP/IP, I recieved this alert: "The previously selected connection, "Ethernet", is not available. The connection has been changed to "PPP"." What is wrong? I think maybe my computer is not detecting the Apple Ethernet PCI card? And yes, there is such thing as a Apple Ethernet PCI card brand because I bought it.

Hardware / HELP!! Umax on the internet threw use of an eathercard

I wanna know the answer to this form. I just installed an Apple PCI Ethernet Card to my Powerpc 6500. I opened Apple Menu/ TCP/IP / but my Connect via: Apple Talk (MacIP) is my only option. I don't know how to get it to connect via: Ethernet. Also my Configure options are only: Using MacIP Server and Manually. I think it's due to my OS 7.5.5. Do I need to install a higher OS? I am thinking of buying the highest that my computer can take, 9.1. IF not, what are my options and how can I Connect via Ethernet? |
