T/Maker's word processor took a different approach - instead of adding feature after feature, it focused on what 95% of users need and instead went for speed and compatibility. Labeled "lean and mean" it runs decently even on the most low end System 7 Mac.
Some notable features include easy-to-use tables and the ability to import and edit graphics (like crop, scale and resize) alike modern word processors (just drag the handles of the box). Noteworthy is also a special PowerBook optimization which allows to run WriteNow 4 mostly from the RAM, thus saving battery cycles if your PowerBook still has a physical hard disk.
It supports saving files its own WriteNow format, in plain text, plain text with line breaks, MacWrite, MicrosoftWorks and RTF (Microsoft Word).
Cornica has a Quicktime video with T/Maker's president Heidi Roizen showing off version 1.0 of WriteNow.
This is System 7 Today's co-admin Bolkonskij's favorite word processor. He keeps using it to this day whenever he happens to write the occasional letter for printing.
