Bullseye Software

Dogfight City is the flight sim for the rest of us because it can enhance the skill level of any simulator pilot.

Dogfight City is designed as a training tool. In addition to helping you learn how to take off, fly, and land your aircraft, Dogfight City teaches you the 17 Basic Fighter Maneuver (BFM) training exercises. Training begins with Pure, Lead, Lag pursuits, continues with the High Yo-Yo and the Force Overshoot, then concludes with the defensive spiral. Each exercise has an auto pilot option so you can see exactly how each maneuver is supposed to look.

You can then apply everything you've learned to the dogfight arena. There are 9 dogfight scenarios to master. The top level will keep any flight sim pilot busy fighting for their life. You can fight 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 2 vs. 1, any combination from 2 to a total of 4 aircraft. Fly against three levels of computer AI's or up to 4 people in a dogfight free-for-all over LocalTalk.

Dome Wars 1.2b1
shareware!

1 to 10 players. AppleTalk, TCP/IP. 68030 or higher (Networking requires PowerMac)
Nathan Sturtevant

Nathan Sturtevant's description: The premise: You have been captured by aliens, and now fight to the death on the moon of their home planet. In your measily little dome you must fight to destroy everyone around you. Successfully surviving each round & destroying opponents will give you cash to upgrade you weapons & tank. This is all the story line you will find anywhere, and is just here to appease those who want it.

Put simply, Dome Wars is modern implementation of the classic Artillery computer game. As you would expect, Dome Wars has all the features of any updated game; including weapons upgrades (with funky weapons like Napalm), defenses upgrades, random landscapes and positioning, and intelligent AI for computer controlled domes.

Doom II 1.0.3

1 to 4 players. AppleTalk, serial/modem (via CTB), Kali/MacIPX.
Crossplatform!
68040 or PowerMac (PowerMac native!).
Id Software & Lion Entertainment

If anything, Doom is possibly the most recognized game on the market today. Indeed, it has become a household name, even among non-computer types. It surely will go down in history as one of the all-time most popular, along with Pac-Man and Space Invaders.

I don't want to spark any more Doom verses Marathon debates. Marathon clearly has a technical advantage, as well as a developed storyline. Doom, on the other hand, has no plot. It's more or less an arcade-style game where you find the exit. And that's just fine.

Duke Nukem 3D 1.2

1 to 8 players. AppleTalk, IPX/Kali, modem/serial.
Crossplatform! *
68040 or PowerMac.
CD-ROM.
3D Realms (Mac version published by MacSoft)

Prepare Yourself for the Ultimate 3D Slugfest! Murderous aliens have landed in futuristic Los Angeles, and the humans suddenly find themselves atop the endangered species list. The odds are a million-to-one, just the way Duke likes it!

This game, set sometime in the early 21st century, begins in a ravaged LA, which was overtaken by aliens. Duke finds himself with another mess to clean up, and another alien race that needs exterminating. Duke is a can-do hero who realizes that sometimes innocent people have to die in order to save Earth, so accuracy of gun fire is not a real concern to him. :-) The weapons kick-butt: There's a mine that can be placed on any wall and sends out a laser trip beam-- perfect for multiplayer games. There's also a shrinker ray that reduces an opponent to the size of a G.I. Joe, at which point they are foot fodder-- watch them splat! You can swim under water, and even shoot players who are standing outside the water, or vice versa.

MacSoft's Duke Nukem 3D for the Macintosh also contains all the fast paced action packed levels found in the Atomic Edition; which includes all the original Duke Nukem 3D levels as well as those found in the Plutonium PAK. Having captivated PC gamers by combining strong character development, gripping graphics and irreverent humor with an advanced 3D gaming engine, Duke Nukem 3D is sure to "raise the bar" for first person action games on the Mac.

Butt Kickin' Features:

Networkable Mac Games Tip:
Crossplatform play requires PC users to be upgraded to Duke Nukem 1.5, which is only available from the Plutonium PAK upgrade. No free PC updater is available. The PC 1.5 introduced low-level networking changes in 1.5, so even PC users are not compatible with PC users with the earlier 1.3 version. The Mac port started after 1.5 was released for the PC, and is what the Mac version is based on. So, Mac players can play against other Mac players, or against PC players who have purchased the Plutonium PAK. (Side note: Shadow Warrior for both the PC and Mac use the same 1.5 Duke engine, so there are no compatibility worries!)
