Just saying hello from the SF Bay Area. (South Bay) I used to help get old Macs onto the network back in the early 90's and now I've got a couple of old systems for fun. Currently I have a SE/30, Classic II, IIci, and a PowerMac 6500/250. I only plan to keep the SE/30 and 6500, but I'm in a transition right now, having found a great deal on the SE/30 a few weeks ago. Anyway, just saying hello to the other System 7'ers out here. |

Welcome, gillham. Although an SE/30 can not run 7.6, I think it was one of Apple's best hardware efforts. Enjoy your time here there are lots of excellent resources to be uncovered. Networking expertise is always needed with older machines and we look forward to your participation. bill

I liked the se/30 what a great machine. I used one to do all the DAC work got my thesis. I used a gpib hardware rack connected to the se/30 and used labview 2.X software. It did a great job! At that time the DOS apps could not touch what the macs were doing.

That is interesting as this SE/30 had a bunch of test documents from a lab, something related to a winery as it was mentioning grapes and wine. (and the winery's name) So this box probably did plenty of lab work as well.  It is a nifty machine. My new pram batteries will be here in a couple of days and hopefully it will be a bit happier with a fresh one. It came with a PDS Ethernet, which I wasn't expecting so I am pretty stoked.
