I am putting together a mac for my girlfriend. As she is not interested of computers, I am making it as easy as possible for her to use, with automatic backups etc. Here are two of the apps I have installed. EmptyTrash v1.0.2 ƒ You drag&drop it to your startup folder. That‘s all! Everytime you start your mac, the app will empty the trash, except locked items which one have to delete manually. Then it will quit itself. AutoCheck 2.4.2 This will automatically run the Disk First Aid when mac is started. You can choose which HDs you want it to check. It will only stop if there is a problem, otherwise it will just close the Disk First Aid afterwards. If one is in a hurry, it is possible to pass it easely. I made it to run only once a day. This installation is not so much for repairing, but to warn . If the First Aid tells to repair often, she knows there is something wrong and will ask me to check the mac. This way neither of us have to worry. In the AutoChecks pdf manual are links to two scripts you will need too. Both apps are available from an archive of which I made a post earlier: http://freegroups.net/macos_files/File_Disk_Utilities.shtml There are so many apps to check there, that I thought to slightly hype these two. |
