What are the specs, ram size, hdd size? Follow the upgrades on the main site and you will notice improvements.

Just came today, and i have everything upgraded except for quicktime due to the 16mb of ram the system has for now. it is a 1400c/166 with a 2gb hard drive 12x CD and 16mb of ram. 7.6.1 (Original Install of it) loaded onto the hard drive. I hope to win the copy of 7.6 off of ebay that i have bid on so i can do a clean install of 7.6.1 so i do not have to worry about bad sectors. The system appers to have come from a teacher due to various teacher documents being left all over the place.

Totally try and max out the ram. The modules aren't too bad if you can find them on ebay. A possibly cheaper way is to find a damaged pb with the ram modules in them, I've gotten a lot of parts that way. Something about how the whole pb is worth less than the parts type of thing. Then you can start adding, compact flash pc cards, wifi, g3 upgrade, various expansion bays and so on. I get a little addictive when working on my 1400. It's a surprisingly upgradeable mac.

*stray thought here*  When will people learn to erase their hdds? I recieved one 1400 that the seller claimed had a damaged drive so sold it for parts. I simply used disk first aid on it and discovered it had the guys personal porn still on it along with banking info that was still relavant.

It was a school computer, nothing sensitive on it. It even has the original backup disk creator (about 20+ floppys worth of data that will be rendered moot when i get a copy of 7.6 off of ebay in a day or two) Fresh install of 7.6 then upgrade that to 7.6.1 and all will be well.
