In the QuickTime folder you'll find a program called "Picture Viewer" or something like that - that was more or less the equivalent of Preview, whose purpose isn't to organize photos but rather view them.

Oh yeah, that often happens in the classic Mac OS.  The best solution is to just drag the documents over the app icons.  If the app can save, then you can save your document and that will create the file-app associations.  However, usually when dealing with files that were created or somehow come from an OS that is not the classic Mac OS, you'll run into this problem.

What are the limits of the iView multimedia demo? Like is it a 30 day trial or anything?

I don't actually recall it's been awhile since I used it last.

As a side note, this is the 3,000th post on System 7 Today.

I am using iView MediaPro 1.1, but Toast 4 deluxe includes rebadget iView. They call it Photo Relay. It is a full working version without time restrictions.

Not sure of which version of iView it is, or if it is identical to the last detail.

Toast is easy & cheap to get from ebay, and somewhat necessary for burning cds, so before looking after a copy of iView, buy the Toast.

Then it is perhaps good it is in the off topic area.

Toast Titanium (is that V5) comes bundled with iView Multimedia V1, which I beleive should work with OS 7.6.

If Photo Relay requires Appearance, then how is it a "rebadged" version of iView, which doesn't.

will toast 5.x work with 7.6? i do not think so

toast 5.x requires 8.5 and greater i will check on that one

I have here open now iView 3.5 multimedia and Photo Relay 1.0.1, these are clearly one and same app. The difference is so small, that we are talking  something of an x.1 version difference.

I have  Toast 3.x in my 7.6's and 4.x in os 9's, but running iView MediaPro 1.1 in both (as I just happen to have one).

there was a thread in s7t of Toast 4s combatibility with 7.6, so I did not test the Photo Relay, as I said:

I can not run any experiments right now and I am not sure will I do it later either, as my apps are working. (and a link here will give a working solution for others, too). A quick look told me that althought there is an appearance folder in the Toast cd, the Photo Relay did not ask for it. It did not run either.

I do not think it needs AP. I keep one mac without AP, just for testing purposes to avoid all AP talk here.

I have found a legal shareware download link for iView 3.5 Multimedia. It was posted there by the actual iView company, and includes payment instructions. It is a full version and does not seem to be time limited. I did a post of this app archive earlier today, but did not mention any individual softwares.

The link is: http://freegroups.net/macos_files/Text_and_Editors.shtml

Please scroll down halfway and you will find it. There is also 3.4 available, but I did not check what is the difference.
