I'm not getting Toast to launch on my Duo 2300c.  It crashes every time with unimplemented trap errors.

Apple's explanation of unimplemented traps is not very helpful.

Toast V4 was a very long lived piece of software. It was finally replaced with Toast 5 in 2000. Durning that span it was available both as a commerical version and from many manufacturers as OEM software with their drives. Different varieties of Toast V4 were being sold or shipped with CD hardware from OS 7.6 through OS 9.

The maker of an external firewire/usb burner could perhaps distribute a version of Toast V4 that is specifically tied to a firewire/usb drive and thereby not work with 7.6.

Apple's info concerning a call to a ROM routine not being handled might stem from your version of Toast making a call to a routine contained in the MacOS ROM file which is only installed on much newer hardware and OSes. And that might be the case with an OEM version of Toast bundled with a firewire/usb drive.

I am not using an OEM version, but rather the boxed copy of Toast Deluxe 4.1.  Could it have anything to do with the Duo not having SCSI ports nor CD drives?

EDIT:  In fact, when I ran an updater to 4.1.2, it said it would not work because the updater only works with OEM versions, which I didn't have.

A Duo 2300 if I remember correctly has both internal SCSI and IDE controller for the onboard hard drives. I do not know why V4.1 installs on my PB5300 and not on your Duo 2300.

I'll have to try it on my 8500 when I get home.  I even have a Yamaha SCSI CD-RW to test it with!

What are the benefits of using Toast 4 instead of 3.5 in 761?

Yes, but they're not actually there.

well that depends if you use google to search for the name of the app or the file name with extensions

i have found allot of things using google by searching for the file name like AVPLite15.sit.hqx witch is Apple videophone lite and google took me directly to a site that has the file

now if i was to do a google search for Apple videophone lite it will find a few sites with dead links to the download and allot of sites with info about it also with dead links.

i have used web archive in conjunction with google to help me find a few things

but its hard to find some things even using google
