Pretty sure no. Never had a Mac Plus, not sure if it can be hacked. But it isn't officially supposed to work.

OS 7.6 requires 32bit ROMS which the Mac Plus does not have. 7.5.5 is the highest system which can be installed on a Mac Plus. Although it was common at the time of System 7.X to upgrade Pluses to System 7, from a performance stand point they will do best with some version of System 6. bill

Apple made several machines, MacII, MacIIx, SE/30, etc that have the hardware necessary to run 32bit software, yet came with 24bit ROMs. The 68000 processor can only run 24bit software. The 68020 processor can use 32bit software if it has an optional MMU, and the 68030 can use 32bit software with out the need for additional hardware. By the same token killing IIfx machines to run OS7.6 on an SE/30 is not a good idea. bill

I have to agree with that. The IIfx is one of the fastest of all the Mac II machines, if not the fastest, so stripping parts off of it to upgrade a slower model makes no sense.

Darn, no editing. I wanted to say in the last post, the Mac Plus can only go as far as 7.5.5, but in reality you would be better to stick to 6.0.8 as System 7 really bogs down those early machines if you still have a 68000 CPU. It is similar to the zippiness you feel using 7.6 and then seeing how much everything slows down when you move up to System 8 or 9.
