Do RAM Doubler and Speed Doubler work the same way? Would they conflict if they were loaded onto the same machine. Which is better?

The two preform very different functions. They were both developed by Connectix and do not conflict with one another.

Speed Doubler is very useful for PowerPC machines running 7.6. It provides improved 68K emulation and adds multi treading features to the Finder, both of which make noticable performance improvements.

RAM Doubler makes improvements to Apple's virtual memory system. It is an improvement over virtual memory in 7.6, but many have found with falling memory prices increasing the systems physical memory makes more sense.

I guess I would see Speed Doubler as a being one of the best add on software piecse for 7.6, while RAM Doubler is more an optional accessory.

Speed doubler is definatly a must for 7.6.1, there is a noticeable difference. Ram doubler, really isn't neccesary with the small memory footprint of 7.6.1, especially if you can max out the ram (64 mb on all my macs)  but it doesn't mean you can't use it. I use in on the greatest mac everbuilt, the performa 6200 (it's one of the worst actually). Just because I had it at a time when 16mb was $400.00

How about a PowerBook? When you stuck with an 8 to 36 MB RAM. RAM Doubler + MAX RAM comes in handy. With RAM doubler and Max RAM you can multiply your physical RAM by 6.
