We recently got our internet access updated.
Was previously on ADSL but we now have FTTP. A jump from speeds of 5 / 0.5M (down/up) to 1000 / 115M.
Interestingly I've not noticed a significant difference - certainly not 200 times better. I guess the bottlenecks are elsewhere.

In the UK there is a big push at the moment to close the conventional telephone network and move everyone to VOIP. This combined with the continued roll out of optical fibre explains why we've been migrated.

I believe most people in UK are now on FTTP or VDSL (FTTC). ADSL is disappearing fast (but a few places might survive where other methods are impractical). I think some areas have co-ax and there might be a bit of Satellite or other wireless solutions.

Don't know much  about the mobile network so won't comment on that.

I'm interested to know what it is like where you live.
