I'm new here, so I guess I'll introduce myself.

Computer-wise I've more recently become a huge Apple fan.  I bought my first Apple (a 14" iBook G4) a little over a year and a half ago and I've been hooked.  That machine has been by far the most pleasant computing experience I've ever had and this is coming from somebody who has used Windows/Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris/you name it.

I got hooked on OSX, so from there I decided to buy a few project computers.  At first I bought a strawberry 333mhz iMac G3 and then another graphite 600mhz iMac G3 DV.  The strawberry one is currently sitting in my kitchen as more of a kiosk and the graphite one sits in my living room acting as pretty much a media server and bittorrent download machine.

Once I felt that my need for more OSX machines was complete, I hit up eBay and saw that there was an old LCIII for sale for $5 shipped.  I was feeling nostalgic and realized that the first PC I ever used was an Apple LCII.  The LCIII is pretty much just an upgraded LCII anyway, so I snagged it and now I've got a chance to mess with System 7.  Of course that $5 had to be too good to be true, so I had to buy the Griffin PnP adapter to plug it into a modern monitor and then had to buy a keyboard and mouse.  Currently 7.1 is installed on it, but I'm working on getting it upgraded.  The only thing holding me back right now is I'm too damn lazy to get an old generic tower out of my closet and hook it up so I have something with a floppy drive =)

I also just want to say that this site is incredible and I've learned a ton already.  I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions later on, so thanks ahead of time for anybody who helps me out.

Oh and one last thing; if anybody knows where I can get a copy of Oregon Trail then you're my hero.  I have the overwhelming urge to pile up a bunch of dead buffalo =)

Welcome!

Luckily for you, the LC III is *not* merely an upgraded LC II.  In fact, all it shares in common is the case.  The earlier LC and LC II's atrocious 16-bit motherboard was completely tossed out in favor of a brand new 32-bit motherboard and speedy 25mhz 68030 for the LC III, which could now address over three times as much RAM, and supported larger displays with more colors.
