so ive tried getting soundpirate to connect to its server for a few days now using the FAT version no dice...}

Yeah, the server is down and I'm not sure it's coming up. The protocol is not designed to work behind NAT (which is what everyone who has a router at home is behind). So it's a dead cause getting this to work for  real. I don't have the time to rewrite the protocol on both sides.

You could deploy your own OpenNAP server, change the FQDN or IP in the settings to your server and connect to it without any problems. Give it a go :)
