The "C" screen, I don't even know what the true names for the screens are called, works great. It's so clear and not blurry. So here's the updated count. Powerbook 1400c 333 G3- 7.6.1/8.6 Powerbook 1400cs133 7.6.1 Powerbook 1400 cs 117 7.6.1 Performa 6200 7.6.1 With upgrades suggested by Dan, all are working and usable. |

I like the CS screen actually--I had a 8088PC (4.77Mhz) that had a monochrome screen with some ghosting effect that I always liked. Any passive screen on a PC laptop that I have ever seen looked like garbage, absolutely pitiful. The 1400cs screen puts ANY and I mean ANY PC passive matrix to shame. Plus it reminds me of the first PCs I owned. b

I have one PC that I plan on keeping and the only reason is for a tunable fuel injection system for my vintage porsche project. I made over 800 dollars selling off my PC junk....and dont plan on ever missing PCs. I hate installing any Microsoft OSon any computer now, since it only takes 16 minutes to install 7.6.1 on a 100Mhz machine. Last time, it took a hour and a half to install 98 on a PC. YUCK!

I have Mac LCIII and, as far as i know, System 7.0.1. It has worked good, and I use it even nowadays for writing text and scoring music.

I've got 3 system 7-capable machines: Powerbook 3400 180 with 80MB of memory and a 2GB hard drive, running 7.6.1 (Powerbook 3400-specific update version) Mac LC III with 12MB RAM and an 80MB SCSI hard drive, running 7.5.5 PowerMac 5500 225 with 128MB of memory and a 4GB hard drive, running 7.6.1 I've also got an iMac 800 with OS 9.2.2 and a Mini G4 with Tiger, but those don't count.

This past week, I had a 6500/250 with a 15" AV monitor dropped off on my porch along with all the materials that came with it. The software restore CD installs OS 7.6.1 along with a very nice software bundle. A good deal of other software was included in the CD folder along with lots of nice printed documentation. I fired the computer up to see if it worked. I am always amazed that people toss computers without at least erasing the hard drive and what I was greeted with when starting was the former owners full working system. The contact manager and datebook had new todo's and appointments listed and the documents folder was filled with hundreds of ClarisWorks 4 documents, many of which were only a week old. I found it most interesting to note that here was a computer, purchased new almost 10 years ago and having been regularly used had never been updated beyond what come with the computer. Here was a person who was content to run 7.6.1 for almost a decade before upgrading. I did erase the hard drive and reinstall the system from the restore CD. It is a 6500/250 with 32MB of RAM, CD ROM, ZIP, 4GB hard disk drive. There is a Geoport CommSlot II modem installed in the CommSlot. Everything works well. bill

I have a Power Macintosh 7200/120 DOS Compatible. The DOS card is great but it does make sure that I remain in the System 7 world.

I have 2 Macs running 7.6.1 on both.One is IIci w/h a Carrerra 040 Card & 96 Megs of Ram. The other is PowerBase running G4. This is in a PowerLogix Z-Force card using OtherWorld Computing Zif G4 (I used it originaly in an AIO G3). There it was running at 466MHz. In PowerBase the best setting I could manage is 420MHz/47.5 bus speed & L2 cache is 1Meg 2:1. It for sure flies...
