I had never heard of AIM Pheonix and when I looked it up I found it was a radar guided long range air to air missile launched from the F14 Tomcat. I do not use that. It is also I gather a resurrection of an old AOL message client. Does it work on w Classic Mac OS?

Interesting project(s) and one to follow up. We just had a discussion on ICQ and setting up a private ICQ server over on our Hotline server some days ago.

But back to the question: Nope. Neither any AIM or MSN history. I may take a look around though. Has compatibility with System  7 clients been confirmed yet?

So, I did test various America Online AIM clients three years ago that are compatible with the AIM Phoenix service and added instructions for getting on AIM Phoenix here :)

It's a really neat way to jump into the action as if it were the 90s! 8)

And for system 7.1.1 and up you need to use version 2.0.531:

For 7.5.x and up, you can upgrade to version 4.0.972:

And for Mac OS 8.6 and up, you can bump it up to version 4.7:

The laster the version, the more features it come with of course ;)

Very cool! I need to try this on my 7500 once everything is fully set up. How do I add you guys? Does it have the cool "random chat" function that ICQ used to have? Where you'd change status to "chat" and the server would randomly bring together two users with that status? It's how I met my wife some 20 years ago :-)

@knezzen - any way to add this to our Jabber server?

I could install a instance of the server on the same machine as we run the Jabber server now, yes. Can't do it over the Jabber/XMPP protocol though if that's what you mean ;)
