I ran into this mirror of ccadams old page (retro compatible). If you own a Mac SE, a Plus, a Classic etc. it might be interesting for you as it discusses the use of your best browser choice, MacWeb, on System 7. It contained some interesting info on getting the most out of these low low low end browsers and just wanted to share it with you. |

MacWeb was my first "real browser". I first used it on an SE and used it on an SE/30 right up until I switched over to Cyberdog  I have no idea what MacWeb could handle on today's web, but early on it was a very competent browser. (As I recall early in the web, it was considered a bit rude to include images larger than 4KB.)MacWeb was very lightweight and very competent. The web has always been a mess bordering on a train wreak. Early on a browser was often considered to be very good and very useable, when it could keep going and not crash on rather poorly constructed home brew web pages. MacWeb met that criteria.
