So I'm curious, I know I've downloaded one or two of the first/or earlier versions of FM's Go for iOS over a decade ago when FM introduced their really cool app. Anyone know or maybe can check on their older iPhones or iPads if they can still get those older versions (and this would be the key part of this exercise): are older apps still available on the store? From this modern link, they're def saying no. Since this looks like a closed case officially, I wonder what, if any, unofficial workarounds may exist then? Side-loading the app via iTunes or maybe a Jailbreak option? I'm aware of the sec caveats, but I also think some use-case options could still be okay, like possibly a LAN-only connection to a Mac via WiFi? Besides my local homeschooling project, there's another very exciting upcoming project I'm going to be a part of that might allow me to do something really amazing overseas, so I'd love to see if FM Go could be a part of this!

You can only get older and discontinued software on the App Store, if it is software that you have downloaded previously. If you have not used the software in the past, you will not be able to obtain it. However if you do download a new version, you can often download an older version for an older device you have. The above assumes that the application you are looking for has not been pulled by the developer. Some older software does remain, but some titles have been simply pulled from circulation by the developer. If you can find the app you are looking for from another source, and you have a developer's account you would be able to "side load" it on to your iPhone. That assumes of course that the old application will still run on the newer version of the OS. Newer Apple devices are hard to repair and are also very hard on older applications. If you have older applications that you either need, or simply find them delightful to use, it is necessary to keep an older device around just to use the application.

All I can say is good luck, and I predict some jailbreaking required in your future...but I feel you. It's so frustrating to have perfectly serviceable (imho) equipment that become basically bricks when they can't run the latest os and thus none of the most recent versions of the apps you'd like! (But I know I'm preaching to the choir) I'm personally hoping to eventually be able to install some form of Linux (when a good port exists) on the old ios devices I have lying around and resurrect them as useful one day. Anyway, yes, I think your best (maybe only) bet is jailbreaking. Even when doing legit ios dev it is such a pain dealing with apple dev accounts and getting privileges to install apps you wrote yourself on devices you own!
