A lot of thread there. I had a dell xps 866mhz which had SE on it, i actually quite liked SE and the Dell, probably the longest serving PC I’ve had. SE wasn’t that stable and was tricky on drivers. You’re right it was an in between os, very XP like but with 95 stability. Apart from windows NT other Microsoft OS were pretty terrible until XP. Difficult to setup, inconsistent, troublesome blue screens of death, that said lots of free software and customization. By comparison Mac’s were simpler, easier to use and generally more plug and play like. Obviously not as plug and play as today. All that said overall I did quite like my 2-3 years I used SE. I learnt a lot about PCs and modifying them. |

Yeah, I did. The college I went to after high school had Windows 98SE computers. My first PC had Windows 95, and then I upgraded it to Windows 98SE. I still have my 23 Windows 95 floppies, and my Windows 98SE CD and documentation that came with it. I remember people telling me they'll use Windows 98 as long as they can, because they didn't like XP. They had what sounded like good reasons, but I don't remember what they were. Something about Windows 98SE being better than XP or something.
