I've been on a trip abroad this year and took two dozens of individual shots with a digi-cam which I was hoping to concat to a Quicktime VR panorama. (if you're wondering what QT VR panorama is, check this out) Has any of our distinguished members ever created a Quicktime VR panorama? If so, any particular thing to be aware of? What's the trick to make it look really neat? Any recommendations in terms of programs? |

I have no experience at all with this, but I really want to give it a go as well.

Use the QuickTime VR Authoring studio? Link to software <https://www.macintoshrepository.org/14075-quicktime-vr-qtvr-authoring-studio-cd> Documentation on the process can be found here <https://www.macos.utah.edu/documentation/multimedia/quicktime_vr/overview.html> Probably needs newer browser. Just a side note here. I picked up a Surface RT. Odd table, but anyway the built in camera could create panoramas. If you change the file code from whatever it was to .qtvr you could open them as a QTVR movie in Quicktime. I have no idea if MS made an agreement with Apple, reversed engineered it, or just took it. But anyway with a Surface RT which can be purchased rather cheap these days you can create qtvr movies for use in QuickTime very easily.

I've created a few using PictureWorks Spin Panorama which I found on MacWorld 6/98 CDROM. It might require OS8.1. Here is one (not quite 360°) http://81.143.238.236/Images/Cardiff2019Panorama.mov I'm no expert, but when photographing, try to keep the vertical height steady and the light levels constant (no low sun).)

Totally missed to answer here. I took a few snapshots with my smartphone when we were in Armenia last year. (taken on top of the cascades in Yerevan, to be precise) It was a grey and rainy day, but I thought why not - took 25 photos with about 10 degrees in between (or so I thought). I then went on to use Apple's VR Authoring Studio which @wove mentioned above. The software is pretty straightforward, just make sure to allocate it more RAM if you'd like an image bigger than postage stamp size. I've resized my mobile's snapshots and stitched them together into a "Panorama Stitch". Speaking of which, does anyone know of a batch program for scaling images on MacOS? PixelPipe just does batch file type conversions and quality - iResize on PPC OSX, however, did the trick ... Mind you, this is my first time. I'm ok with the result though it's obvious if you look closely that I did miss the 10° step at one point. It could and will be much better the next time I'm doing this (which I certainly plan) but I nonetheless thought I'd share my initial VR test project with you. Maybe it encourages you to create your own ones? Share them here or I'll gladly host any cool ones on Cornica, be it your garden or local town or whatever interesting to watch :-)
