Dan, Are you interested in having a few more game demo downloads for the site. There is a Demo of Civilization 2 out there on the web that I can give you a link to. Wonderful OS 7.6 compatible game. JoAT |

There are PPC and 68k download links near the bottom of this page. Enjoy. http://apolyton.net/civ2/mac/Sys-req/System_requirements.shtml Also, a nice place to get some System 7 era demos is MacGameFiles.com. Go under demos and sort it by date and you'll find lots of good demo downloads. There are even a couple that would be good for benchmarking the Radeon 7000 methinks... JoAT

Hi, If you want more than just demos, you should try http://mac.the-underdogs.info There you can find full versions of many Mac Games, which have been "abandoned" by their formal owners, including popular games like "Monkey Island 1 & 2", "Indiana Jones 3", "Air Combat", "Populous", etc. I wonder, why so many people don't know this place... Greetings, Yan

As far as I now, they provide "Abandonedware", where there is nobody left to hold the copyright. I know some other (very big) sites, that provide such games for MS DOS (e.g. http://abandonia.com). Yan

That's false. Copyrights last for decades and decades. Somebody out there still holds the copyright for everything. "Abandonware" is just a made up term by people who want to get old games for free.

or old games that no one can find anymore and want to preserve them, cause if some one didn't do this these games would be long gone and there would be no games of this sorts to get for your old Mac period (try ebay anyone) cause you will end up nil in the results. yea i understand its illegal and should not be allowed but you know i do have to envy these people that want to keep these old games and software alive for people to get. yea its bogus that these games and software are not yet let loose for people to legally download freely but that is the way the cookie crumbles. even tho someone might hold the rights to the said software they still forgot about it is really called abandonware for a reason cause the copyright holder forgot about it or could care less about it. but still dont give people the right to take it into there own hands unless they have written proof that they are allowed to host the game for people to download for free. i know a few places that use to do this

Ok, but this one is really legal: Bungie has provided its 3D-Shooter "Marathon" (the whole Trilogy!) for free download: http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org I'm running the first part on a Powerbook Duo 2300c under Mac OS 7.6, and it works great! Greetings, Yan

Legality aside, demyan just totally made my day by providing that link to Mac Garden. This may sound stupid, but the initial reason I decided to buy my LC III was to play Oregon Trail and now I can. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places, but I couldn't find a legal way to obtain a copy anywhere.
