I just realized that I am about to go "retro" all the way. Now that I managed to get my e-mail accounts transferred to vintage, I got my office stuff already there (even managed to get MS-Office working long enough for file import/export), my contact books, my mind mapping and knowledge DBs ... In a few more weeks I'm gonna buy myself a Walkman and cancel my Youtube account.  But seriously, I largely stopped watching the news because all I see there is idiocy masking itself of "progressiveness": "Pacifists" calling for war; Men who claim to be women and vice versa (and neither even bothers to shave); Left is right, up is down and a handful of french fries are now more expensive than what three loafs of bread used to cost. Buying fresh bread from the bakery now feels like going out for dinner.  I don't care about this world anymore. Nothing makes sense there. The trains are so unpunctual it be easier to just announce those who are not running late. Many places of my childhood now look like a mix of downtown Baghdad and Bangladesh and when I try to read some news articles I find their texts so messed up with gender speak that I can't even comprehend my own mother tongue anymore. Maybe I am just growing old, senile and anti-social - or maybe the lunatics really did manage to break out of the asylum and took over the institution. Either way I made up my mind, that I want the late 80's and early 90's back. The rest can go to those fruitcakes who like to play guessing games about a bearded dude's gender or have dinner table discussions about menstrual fluids, while the house is burning all around them. |

What’s even more worrying now a days you probably couldn’t call a walkman that today as walk and man are both seemingly offensive in this weird insane dystopian tiktok society we’re heading into. Walkman today would be something like: a Motion Non-Binary portable analog sound wave generation machine. (Catchy). Complete madness. Get it setup and do indeed go down the 1980/1990s retro rabbit hole, i can assure you i’ll not be far behind! Plus I’ve already got the cassette deck!

You can upgrade the HD to make it a high performance SSD (up to 1TB I think), and put thousands of high quality albums on it. They were frightened, and learned to infiltrate the youth, and now instead of marching against war, they are for endless war. And instead of fighting against economic injustice, they fragment into fights about racial and sexual identity. And all the multinationals have exactly the same views, and wave the same flags, as the likes of antifa.

@Neal_SE30 - Jeez Louis, walk(wo)man, didn't even think of that one. Facebook (and Instagram?) now introduced a "feature" for new subscribers to "pronounce their pronouns" - meaning you got to identify your gender identity. So for example I am Mr. Smith but I want to be called Lady Jessica. And "naturally" you can reassign yourself there on a daily basis. Next time a cop asks me to play witness to crime I'll have to tell him (her/it?): "sorry, I couldn't say if they were men or women, as they didn't reveal to me as what they identified that day". Just think of all the novels, stories, legends we'll have to rewrite now as not to offend some self-declared minority. After all, Santa Claus is just another old white male (ab)using his reindeer for forced labor. Not to mention the countless little elves who got to slave for the man - and not a single wheelchair bound transvestite with Asperger among them. Now that got to change ASAP!  Yet I for one love fantasy games where the prince is the one with the beard, the guy gets his gal and meat is still an animal product. My landlord just raised the rent by $50 and I didn't even flinch. Not that I would be so rich, but in Germany US$50 now only buys you food for 2-3 days. The future frightens me and I see no reason why that should change. Its this idiocy of trying to enforce "a better world" on everyone, while the standard of living for the broad masses is in rapid decline. I grew up in an age when meat was a luxury item, private car ownership a privilege of the well to do and poverty only a few missteps away. And now I see the remnants of the middle class marching headlong back to those days. So yeah, why not dwell in the past, where things made sense and "progress" was not something to be feared, but to be admired? If that's the only place were my dreams can thrive now, then so be it.

Yes it’s not looking like much of a future. Ond once governments issue digital id, digital currency that’s it were done, freedom is lost. Although freedom to change your gender will be norm

@Neal_SE30 - I got no problem with people changing their gender, if they would just stick to one. But like in Scotland, Spain and many other places folks can now switch from male to female - and back - easier than you could obtain a parking permit for downtown DC. In Germany they started government sponsored clinics where "concerned" parents can restrict the growth of the breasts of their prepubescent girls with surgical tape or have their little boys treated with puberty preventing hormones. In earlier - more sane - times you'd be prosecuted as a child abuser for stuff like this. But these days its considered as "normal" as flying pigs on airplanes. Male, female - who cares about the basic defining feature of our species - well, of the entire animal class called "mammals"?! This is more bizarre than Orwell or Huxley mixed into one. The 1st question anyone used to ask at birth - boy or girl? - will become unanswerable: "Well, we got to wait until we can find out how he/she/it identifies!". How do you procreate your species, if you can't even figure out anymore who is the male and who the female?

A small minority of far left liberal progressives have taken the narrative as they’re the most vocal on social media and our stupid politicians are more worried about how they’re perceived then dealing in facts or looking after the majority of the middle ground, sensible populous. Unfortunately until the masses stand up against this stupidity it will only get worse.
