Hi guys,
After a bit of a retro disaster the weekend. I thought I should just move on from my clean system 7 hd plan and go straight to bluescsi. That said some issues with my SD card adaptor not working on the imac delaying matters somewhat (i’ve ordered a new one), i wonder if you have any advise on setting these things up? Do i need software to connect to it as there appears to be updates for it.

Any advice appreciated.

I don't have any experience with BlueSCSI, sorry. Outfitted all my retro gear with SCSI2SDs. No official docs?

What happens if you add the SD card to your BlueSCSI in the SE/30 and then start Drive Setup?

Like try our Disk Tools 1 download here:

http://system7today.com/disktools

Put that on a floppy. Boot the SE/30 from it. Start Drive Setup and see if it recognizes a hard drive on the SE/30?

Same as Bolkonskij, I don't have any experience with BlueSCSI. All my old gear use SCSI2SD as well. I can check some docs and try to guide you through it :)

It’s not in the se/30 yet. Problem is the sd card at the moment as I can’t set it up or indeed format it. From the official instructions i need to add a hda file into the root directory but can’t as my iMac doesn’t recognize the SD card. I think it’s the adapter as my work laptop recognizes the micro SD within but as it’s locked down I can’t use that 😆

Yes a bit of a disaster the weekend. I copied all the disks on to floppy via my g3, formatted the se/30 to find the disks hadn’t worked and my usb floppy drive then stopped working completely so i was stuck lol somewhat frustrating. I have ordered 7.1 off ebay for £40 which will arrive Thursday so at least i can the hd version up and running and my new sd card adapter friday, gives me options then ;) basically a nightmare

The Mac Garden didn't have an image of System 7.1? I'm sure peeps both here and at the MG would have saved it on the media you need for you at the cost of postage and the boot floppies and/or CD-ROM you need for it :)

Hey Cballero,
Yes it does, that’s where i got the images from. just my old usb floppy decided to fail/go corrupt as i was making the disks. Not an issue,  i brought official apple 7.1 Floppy disk set for an lcIII off ebay that will grt it up and running again, then weekend i’ll have chance to play with the blue scsi. Shame i can’t put both in. I actually like the sound of the old fashioned spinny hard drive. I sid look on ebay for external hd’s but blimey they cost s fortune

Why not simply check what is on the LCIII floppy?

My assumption is that it just contains an Enabler Extension for the LCIII (which you won't need) but otherwise it is a regular System 7.1 install. So even if it'd install the Enabler, you could just delete it.
