I had a Performa 630 DOS at one point. Welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay.

I too had as my fourth desktop Mac an LC or Performa (I'm pretty sure it was a Performa 630) which I enjoyed while the world immersed themselves in PowerPC Macs (which I eventually delved into, mostly Power books)

Welcome macmacmac33! Kudos for using authentic System 7 hardware on the forum. Writing from a Power Mac 8600 ;-) May I ask what browser you're using? iCab or Internet Explorer ?

Welcome! I also tend to browse this forum from an older Mac. Todays machine is perhaps on the newer side (1Ghz PowerBook G4 Titanium running Mac OS 9.2.2), but still quite fun

Thats awesome Knezzen! Why not post on a forum for vintage with vintage right? Sure you could use an emulator, but it looses the feel knowing its not a fully working vintage mac. Mac forums, and sowftware archives are the only thing ill be using the net for on here. On a side note... I have been playing through Prince of Persia. Very interesting old game! Happy Macing!

Prince of Persia. Ah man, that brings back memories of winter days on a certain LC and the shocking drops into deadly spikes :-D ... nice one, probably would deserve its own thread for discussion :-) In case you're in the mood for some more web browsing on your Performa, here's our list of System 7 compatible websites, with much more stuff still being out there. Have fun browsing and let us know please, should you run into something interesting to add to that list

Thanks Bolkonski! I have already bookmarked some of those sites! Prince of Persia probably could use its own thread. I have already had my fair share of falls into spikes! The only real annoyance is searching for the right potion letter when you start the game. Happy Macing!

hi, I'm creating a retro Mac (system 7.5.5, 68k, BasiliskII) using MacintoshPi, for my 4 year old (and me!). So lots of games, educational software, and reference apps. Too many reference apps maybe, I have a question about that here: https://system7today.com/forums/index.php?topic=3552.0

Your plan sounds amazing, John! ![]() I got into building something like this, but I ended-up limiting my apps to a very small subset that included a few CD-ROMs for that same reason. A very few of them could be copied to a hard drive, but many do require a mounted volume to run. My idea went as far as thinking of using At Ease as a clickable platform; this way the desktop could be completely hidden and separate from the interface, but I broke my virtual Basilisk II 68k Mac's disk image (I think it was Mac OS 8?) somehow in the process, only to find out there was some kind of app/system glitch on the OS and At Ease versions. I would still love to see this implementation, but I still have moments I shudder at my failed endeavor, so if you consider that route, just make sure you have all of your boot images fully backed-up just in case ![]() If it would have worked, my next idea was to see if the At Ease could have been skinned, but the crash derailed my secondary goal
