Hi snes Out of curiosity, because I like learning stuff, I had a look at this. Take what you can from it and let's hope someone else has a known working solution. Links are a mix and requires a modern browser: 110V-240V AC, 50-60 Hz Frequency, 40 Max Watts. Macintosh PowerBook 520c: Technical Specifications PowerBook 500 series(520c) Charger S7T: Anyone rebuild a battery for PB500 series Apple Powerbook 520 & 540 Modifications & Fixes Quote "I discovered if I left it charging overnight, it would come on again... I've also noticed that the power connectors on these powerbooks can be rather flaky."ATX2AT Smart Converter left last link for others with internal PSU issues Edit M1893 PowerBook AC Adapter for Apple Macintosh Genuine Universal Power Charger Adapters ! Just make sure the universal meets all the specs

The complete service manual for the Powerbook 500 series can be found at <https://www.applerepairmanuals.com/the_manuals_are_in_here/PowerBook_500_Series.pdf> Might take a newer browser. Two of the pins are +16 and two are ground. Supply should be rated to 40-50 watts. From what quick looking I did, it appears that many router adaptors would meet those specs, but need to wired to the proper plug. The service manual provides the pin out, with the dead adapter providing the plug.

I would pry apart the old charger casing first -see if it is a capacitor or the copper is intact. wove has a good point -did you see thread that was linked from that thread: PowerBook 520 Odd Behaviour If the old charger can't be fixed, there's no need for the extra plugs, as you use the new charger with the old plug -cutting it off and rewiring it to the new one.

Welcome to the frustrating world of old hardware ![]() You can certainly write to the seller and ask them if it will work. If they do not know I would be tempted to stay away from them. As far as I know the whole Powerbook 500 series can use the same power adaptor. So you might find something if you widen your search. At its core you need an adaptor that produces +16 volts DC along with a ground. Getting it to mate with the Powerbook is perhaps not trivial, but the process is fairly straight forward and not specific to just computers. Someone who messes with old TVs or electronic would be able to do the fix. Perhaps you have a teacher, or the teacher knows someone, ask at places that sell TVs. You might wish to ask here if someone will do the repair for you. I can pretty much assure you that everyone here has been in the same boat as yourself and muddled their way through it. 520c is a nice machine and a good place to start tinkering. For myself my state of mind on such matters is. "If it is not working now, at least I know for sure I can not make it worse."
