Hi guys, I’m looking to sell some of classic macs. First of all i have no idea what’s there worth. The 2 machines i brought 5-6 years ago as bridge machines to get files onto my se/30 but i use my g3 imac to get online so don’t use them anymore. Shame but i simply don’t have the space to have them setup now i work from home. Anyway machines and bits. A 6200CD which I retrobrited and fixed up. 16mb of ram, a new old stock cd300 internal cd-rom as the original one didn’t work. A serviced floppy drive and i put in the network card. Currently this has os8.6 only so i could get the later browser to work on macintoshgarden but i’d likely revert to a fresh 7.5.5 install as 8.6 makes it a bit slow. Nice looking machine and generally lovely to use. Although I believe it was a relatively low end model with first gen 75mhz PowerPc processor. Keyboard & mouse but does need new internal battery. A 6500 300mhz tower with internal zip drive (not retrobrited) but could do so before selling. Nice powerful mac, actually it was from a guy who was a tv animation and advert specialist. So it well specified machine. 32mb, lots of software, tv capture card (although i’ve taken that out but will put it back in. Running on os 9.1, graphics tablet and very yellowed extended keyboard. A 17inch apple monitor (missing flap on front) but fully working and retrobrited. And finally, i’ll be looking to sell on my se/30 pds slotted network card shortly too. Ebay is so unreliable i gage prices as its full of speculators these days charging silly money. For me i’d just want them to be used and enjoyed. Alas my tiny office/man-cave just doesn’t have the space so i’ve unplugged them and put them in the cupboard. I also have new old stock scanner and apple style writer 2 which i never used. Do if anyone is interested or could give me an idea of value. Let me know. Neal |

I'm definitely interested in the 6500. But, it all comes down to what part of the world you live in. You're posting to a global audience here.

Hi MTT, Cballero had emailed earlier so i’ll check cost of shipping to America tomorrow. I’m in the uk so if it’s to much as it weighs a lot, i’ll pop you down as 2nd if Cballero doesn’t want it. I only paid £65 ($80) 4-5 years ago and it’s more than paid me back so i said to Cballero he can have it just pay shipping etc. i imagine that maybe a quite a bit plus import tax so it may not be cost effective. I’ll know tomorrow. If he doesn’t want it due to that, you can have it. Are you state side as well?

Thanks Neal. I'm down-under in Australia, so I would think that it will be out of my price range, shipping costs alone. Never mind, I think it'll be easier if someone in the UK were to pick these up from you, and maybe Europe after that. I hope they go to a good home.

Ok MTT. I’ve had a few things from us and oz in the past and it wasn’t cheap. I sent my se/30 motherboard to the states for a recap. I was new to vintage computing then so i was to nervous to do it myself. Anyway with import tax as well i think it was about £140 in postage and tax just for the motherboard. Same with an external scsi hhd i brought from oz and it didn’t even work when it eventually arrived to the uk. I’d never send a monitor in the post.

Two very nice System 7 machines! The 6200cd sounds like the perfect entry-into-the-retro-Mac-hobby computer. The 6500 is a real "System7 pro" machine ;-) Make sure to recommend the owners to join System 7 Today forum please ;-)

Haha. After playing on it, i want to keep it 😂 Shame I don’t have space to set it up, 😒 Bet it would fly on 7.6.1 I know the 6200 is a road kill mac but actually the one i prefer, don’t know why. Form factor maybe.

They're both nice Macs, and that form factor is the precursor to the G3 iMacs, I still remember my 575-series all-in-one and it was a beauty with its caddy cd-tray! ![]() But agreed the raw speed of the 6500 with Macs OS 7.6.1 is phenomenal.. hey, even your road apple will be speedy with it!

I do like the caddy cd-roms. I have an apple cd-300 caddy and a generic no name standard draw cd-rom, not sure why i still have them connected as i’ve never actually used either of them as i use zip or floppy but nice to know i can I suppose plus they look cool Yes the 6200 is a lovely looking machine, quite similar appearance to the bottom part of the 575
