Very nice. I am listening to the song on sound cloud. It is playing in another tab on a non-System 7 browser.

I need to try this out when I'm on modern gear. Maybe there's a way to convert it to .mod format? That'd allow to listen to them while actually playing the game on a 68k Mac (or Amiga / ST for that matter)

Uhm, the MOD format would be very interesting, but the way the pieces are written would make them quite difficult to convert (the last one is for example for a full orchestra, with more than 25 tracks, tempo changes and all). I have built a MIDI interface for my Amiga 500, though and I am planning to give a try to a tracker a day or another, but I haven't yet took the time to properly explore this world.

To listen them while playing the game, I would go for a CD or a cassette. I heard someone who even went recording them on Minidisk, I loved the idea!

Hi! I finished the work on the Silk Dust Original Soundtrack. You can listen it on the SoundCloud link I gave before. If you like it, you can download all the files (plus a bonus track called Turin Suite) for a small fee:

Very nicely done, thank you. It was very nice of you to make them available and accessible to listen to the songs. I can see the music fitting very nicely into the context of an adventure game. Was this music mostly created via midi on an Amiga? Commodore was big on music on their machines and generally making music was very important in early computing. RISC OS came with solid music creation software and Atari was well respected for its music/midi handling abilities and of course Amiga users continue to this day to churn out new material.

Again, nicely done and thank you.

Thank you!

Most of the music is done with fairly modern instruments. I used Ableton Live, then Logic Pro as DAW's. The orchestral bits come from the BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover, the piano sounds come from UVI some sounds are form Arturia Analog Lab V. I have an Arturia master keyboard, some sounds come from E-MU Proteus/1 and Proteus/2 (1989 and 1990, respectively).
On one or two occasions, I also used a module I built myself that allows to control two SwinSID's (sort of a recreation of the legendary Commodore SID chip) via a MIDI interface.

I built an Amiga MIDI interface myself, but I could not find a MIDI sequencer powerful enough that I would not feel too restrained when using it (I tried MusicX, but it is way too basic). I should try to see on the Mac side.

That's cool news! I still haven't found the time (and patience) to sit down and finish Silk Dust, but it's only a matter of time. Hence no feedback e-mail from me yet :-)

Going to download the soundtrack and listen in when I'm back at a modern computer that can cope with Soundcloud's JavaScript overkill. Any plans to distribute the soundtrack on the cassette tape shown on the page? I might buy one ;-)

Thank you! It's an idea! Maybe one day I will prepare a small run of cassettes, I once did this for a small game for the unexpanded VIC20, it was fun!

Put me down on the list, please. I want one. I still have my old-school radio (with cassette tape) next to my Mac IIci and it'd be cool to listen to a tape while playing a game on it. Can't get more 1980's than that :D

If you will do something similar, I'll let you know, of course. But for the moment, I'm not planning to release a physical edition of the soundtrack. However, in the downloadable version on Itch.io I have included some inlays that can be printed for cassettes, CD and MiniDisc if you want to prepare your own :-)

That's a good deal at full price, but thanks for the discount. You must make all of 15ยข/hr for your efforts. A labor of love I surmise.

Every Sunday during the summer a local bar has music on the patio featuring a different local artist. It can be a real mixed bag, but I like live music and supporting local artists can only be a good thing. They typically have CDs for sale and I always get them. And well I guess for this community, you are the local artist :)

Thank you very much!!!

It requires indeed a great effort to say the truth, but it was fun. I probably spent more time on the soundtrack than on the game itself...
