Hi to all,
this is my first post here.

I'm Davide Bucci, the author of Silk Dust and The Queen's Footsteps.
I'm glad to see that the my games are appreciated. I just wanted to remind that you can download all my games for free on my web page:

http://davbucci.chez-alice.fr/index.php?argument=varie/silk/silk.inc

or on Itch.io (modern browser required):

https://darwinne.itch.io/silk-dust

I personally love physical editions, but this will allow to test the game in advance to see if it fits your needs or if you like it. If appreciate it, Poly.play has done as always an amazing distribution work, with some very nice goodies.

In any case, I am a longtime lover of compact B/W Macintoshes, so yes, this is exactly the kinds of computers I had in mind when I prepared the game. I tried it on my SE/30. The game should run on System 6, too (but if someone can test it, a confirmation is appreciated).

BTW, I tried to write some music inspired from the game. This is the theme of Villa Monastero, where the game starts (modern browser required):

https://soundcloud.com/user-375194295/villa-briccorosso

and this is the Augusto's theme (Emilia's father):

https://soundcloud.com/user-375194295/augustos-theme

Hopefully, you can hear that he deeply loves and respects his daughter but he is somewhat concerned by her adventurous nature. I am currently writing other music that I'll post on Soundcloud in the next few weeks.

Cheers,

D.

Can I be the first one to reply to your first post Davide along with a HUGE thank you for this type of multi-OS development? I even wondered is networked OSes could ever have multi-player options, but just having new games for old retro-operating systems, well.. this makes dreams come true for so many old and new users!!

It's the 'bees knees' as some fondly say colloquially in some part of the United States to express sheer excellence! :D and you reaching out here directly simply sweetens the pot plenty more!!

Hello and thank you very much!

I can support such a large number of computers and architectures only thanks to amazing cross development tools.

For the classic Macintosh line of computers, I used this compiler:

https://github.com/autc04/Retro68

Not only the compiler is amazing by itself, but I have been helped a lot by one of the most active developers, feeling welcome.

Awesome, great to have you here DarwinNE! :-)

Out of curiosity - do you use an emulator like e.g. Mini vMac for testing during your development process or do you test on real hardware like your SE/30?

And while I haven't been able to download your music yet (the machine I'm on is too old for soundcloud) I'll make sure to get it once I'm on a modern machine. Now, all you got to do for the next update is to convert those songs to SND resources and add them to the game :-D

And I'll make sure to test it on System 6 too once I get my parcel. According to Poly Play, it should be released today. Given I reside in Germany, I hope to get it by the end of the week. Will definitely post something once it arrives.

Yes, I regularly test the games on two emulators during game development:
- Mini vMac, where I usually try System 6.0.8.
- Basilisk II, where I have System 7.6.1 installed.

In general, when I am satisfied of the result, I use the real hardware. I have an SE/30 available and a Power Book 180 as well. I also have a LC III, but it needs to be recapped I think.
I also have an SE, at my mother's house, a little far from where I live.

Concerning the game, I hope that you will receive yours very soon, but I don't know if Poly.play has begun to ship yet. Better be patient!

Let me know what you think of it. I wanted to get a copy too. Just got tied up and then forgot about it. Did you get it on floppy disks?

It cost a bit with shipping but worth it just to get an original floppy game 😆 I’m still waiting for mine to arrive

No use ordering plastic for me. That's why I'd rather donate via PP.

it's not about the plastic, it's about ordering the 90's experience ;-)

I'm waiting with playing this one for you guys to receive yours. maybe we can start at the same time or so. Would be fun - distant multiplayer :)
