would like to take it out on the road with me on a 4 hour trip to the UP (upper peninsula) but don't know where to find a working battery for this... |

@wove do they still sell these tried getting a battery for my lombard accept i never got a receipt and they never shipped it upon calling the number listed there was no voice mail machine even...

Sorry I cannot vouch for the reliability of any given source. And I have no experience with batteries for machines of the 520c's vintage. I think those batteries are nickel metal hydride batteries consisting of several cells. The cells inside the battery are generally commodity items and can be obtained from many sources. Instructions for rebuilding the old batteries are typically not hard to find on the internet. A quick search with DuckDuckGo turned up this: <http://www.batteryrebuild.com/laptops/apple/m1906.phtml>

Wove is right. Finding "new-old stock" batteries for a 500 series PowerBook is tough. And then you don't know if they are goners already too. If you're serious about using your 520c in the future, acquaint yourself with rebuilding the batteries. I have no experience with the 520c but a lot of older batteries can be opened and the cells swapped. Or try a service like the one that wove linked to. Some bigger cities here in Europe also have shops in commercial areas that offer such services for a wide array of electronic devices, you may want to inquire if there's something like that in a bigger city near you, if you don't want to do it yourself. You just bring your battery over, go shopping in the meantime and pick up your healed battery afterwards.

actually. open the old battery. most of these older batteries were just standard batteries stuck together. so many old ones were simple lithium AA's in a fancy case. if it doesnt work, open it!
