http://images.macintosh.garden/2022/06/14/vintcomp.jpg making it using photoshop 6.0 on Windows ME and Netscape 4.7 (as my 520c has a broken keyboard...)also i cant get a hold of my password for the mac garden web hosting service as my discord is tied to a dead email Anybody know how to make a marquee?? |

What do you mean by "marquee"? And contact one of tbe Admins at the Garden to have them reset your password.

im using netscape 4.7.2 composer as a base is there a option in a settings panel like frontpage 98 that will allow me to have a marquee without all the coding stuff

Here is a link to the documentation for Netscape Composer <https://www.csun.edu/~csunitr/guides/composer/v4/begWIN07.html> Claris Home Page might be on the Garden. If it is and works on your Mac, here is a link to the documentation for that: <https://www.csun.edu/~csunitr/guides/composer/v4/begWIN07.html> I think newer browser is required for both. Extensive documentation on coding HTLM is readily available via a web search, and I would suspect your local library probably has assorted print copies available as well. Generally even if you wish to start with a WYSIWYG editor reading about and developing the underlying code will become a valuable asset.

You will want to stick with HTML 3.2 if you want to go for maximum vintage computer compatibility. This is the resource that folks like fogwraith from the Mac Garden or I have been using: http://www.blooberry.com/indexdot/html/index.html I'd advise against using <marquee> for pages with older browsers as the rendering takes a lot of horsepower and it will display very choppily on slower machines. If you want to go for max compatibility, I'd also avoid programs like Frontpage, Dreamweaver and the likes as they tend to produce terrible code with a lot of overhead. Hand-made still beats everything else. But of course, it's still better than no page at all :-)
