Hi all, I've been using Macs since about 2003, first Mac I used was a Lombard notebook running Mac OS 8. I use a number of methods to record music, cassette tape, reel to reel as well as g4 workstation with a digi001 protools system. I recently bought a PAS audio spectrum card for my Centris 650, so hopefully this machine will be able to join the gang. I have a number of old Macs: classic, se/30, couple of LC IIIs, Quadra 610, powermac 6100/66, powerbook duo 230, 1400cs, Lombard, g4 aluminium; as well as some newer machines. I work with Windows servers for a day job, but for leisure I mostly use Macs and pre windows NT PCs |

Welcome to the forum. My son does recording work on a Classic Mac system using a Gigbit ethernet machine. He runs OS 9 on it and uses ProTools mostly. He says there is just too much money invested in that software, to upgrade to newer hardware/software when it is just for a hobby. I think with an audio studio setup you rarely interact with the underlying OS, with the setup becoming a special use machine all on its own. Something that is just based on the Mac OS. Is your setup just for audio work, or do you use the Mac OS for general purpose computer work as well. Older big iron Macs are very reliable and versital machines. The Lombard is a very nice and well built laptop not to mention a very capable machine. My son started his sound adventures on a IIfx, and our house was full of rather dubious sound creations for many years.

Sounds like you fit right in, @jeggy111! Welcome to our friendly little forum! Co-Admin @Knezzen is big into DAW on Mac OS as well, so you're not an exotic here ;-) Too bad you missed out on the 90's Mac adventure, it's been a bumpy ride but nonetheless in hindsight I consider them the most interesting years in computing / Apple history. What's the status of your Mac collection? Sounds like an awful lot of recaps and repairs to do :-) any favorite Mac among the ones you mentioned?

oh wow, I'm in the middle of trying to setup my se/30 as a DAW/midi studio. I've not quite managed to get it to work yet. SE/30 128mb on 7.5.5 Macman midi man serial interface Roland Sc-88vl sound canvas Roland Ed-PC300 keyboard controller. I could do with some assistance configuring it right on cubase 1.0 lite
