@MTT If I might ask, what are you using for a Hackintosh? I set up a Thinkpad X220 with High Sierra for my wife and she has been using it trouble free for several years now. |

Hi wove. It's yet another discard I found on my way home from a walk to the village about 3 years or so back ![]() I always have an eye open for treasure ![]() Jas is a no-name build in a Cooler Master tower case. An older 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 1MB L2 cache, LITE-ON DVDRW (Writes +R DL, etc), nVidia GeForce 6200 512MB with fully supported Core image & Quartz Extreme, Realtek Gigabit Ethernet (household is wired, not wireless), Gigabyte motherboard (I forget what model it is). Anyway, it all runs really well, and everything goes smoothly. My attempts at setting up Hackintosh on other Intel boxes has been not so fortunate, where something would always be unworkable (usually graphics or networking), so I was very lucky with this find. Posting this via jas

Mac TI, Mac SL, Mac ML and Mac Mojo I had so many different OS at one time -also installed on an external HDD, I was swapping around all the time. That I ended up naming my HD after the OS, TI for Tiger and Mojo for Mojave. On OS9 it's still the default -only one left that needs a name.

@wove: Lol - beautiful naming there ![]() Wish I wasn't so unadventurous. -Now posting from "centris" my '040 660av, with an HD named "C-660a, C-660b, C-660c, C-660d" - Four partitions actually, centris has a whopping 4GB SCSI HD. Partitioned so as to get the HFS file sizes down a bit. Say, a huge thanks callout here to the S7T team, for having a site so amenable to iCab 2.9.9 - Amazing.

I call my machines by their model names and the drives by what's on them ![]() So my PowerMac 8600 is called "8600" and the drives on it are called "7.6.1", "8.1", "8.6" and "Filer" (files in Swedish) respectively

I used to do: [Product Series] HD/SSD (boring, I know). Examples would be: PowerBook HD, MacBook Pro SSD, iMac HD, etc. I'm still just as boring, but not I name when after the direct model of the computer. "PowerBook 100", "Power Mac 7100", etc.

Hi 68040 The Canon LaserJet icon on the desktop is a static IP connection, using the LaserWrier 8 driver to a Canon MF269dw manufactured in 2019. Quite unsuccessful attempt really. When I printed from Note Pad, the printer responded but just printed jibberish. The other printer is an HP LaserJet 1320n Post Script printer. Using a static IP, it doesn't respond, which I find very odd (I can ping it just fine and use it from other computers). I actually found a LaserJet 1320n driver for Mac OS9 and tried to install it on OS 7.5.5 but no go. https://driverscollection.com/?H=LaserJet%201320n&By=HP&SS=Mac%20OS%209 When I had this Quadra out of the box in 2021, I bet I spent a month trying to get one of these two printers to print. I was actually going to post for some assistance about printing in the future. I'll have to get to that. I'll bet you saw that Canon LaserJet icon and wondered if I was actually able to print to that printer. Sadly, not yet. I kinda got discouraged getting these printers working and so I picked up a brand new (old stock) never opened Style Writer 2500 printer. I haven't pulled it out of the box yet. https://revontulet.org/2023/08/24/e06f8cd2de6e4d46b55beb921d2b7b9e.jpg https://revontulet.org/2023/08/24/c2ad43668a6443b0845eae05e4d965d1.jpg

I like the old classic name of Macintosh HD. Normally I give my drives descriptive names, because otherwise I'll forget what it's for. I have a partition called Mac OS 8 on this Power Macintosh 7200/75, which I just got back out of storage because I have set up another table for it, which makes me happy because I can use my System 7 Mac again ![]() My System 7 partition like I said, I left as Macintosh HD. I have a third partition on that hd simply called Misc. I have a second hd, a 160 GB ATA connected to my Sonnet Tempo Trio (actuall both my hds are connected to it. Both of my SCSI hds failed). I have a single partition on the second hd simply called Files, since I don't have much room on my system partitions. I think the only "drive" I called something cool was my first USB flash drive, which is 1 GB. I named it Gigawatt. I bet you can guess where I got that from haha
