Hello,

I have a StyleWriter II paired with a Mac IIci running 7.1 that works almost fine except that the small rubber wheels on the feed mechanism have lost their rubber “tires” causing the paper feed to drag a bit.

Can the feed be repaired or should I get a new printer?

That's a tough one. I don't have a StyleWriter II (only briefly had the first StyleWriter, that was years ago), so I can't share from my own experience.

I guess you already searched for replacement on ebay.com, so if you couldn't find anything, a good idea might be to look for replacements in unusual places - any other (household) devices that use such a ring or similar? Again, I do not know the StyleWriter II specifics and how much tolerance there is on these wheels but I found you often can take other things and make them fit. The Russian way of fixing things ;-)

Another option would indeed be getting another StyleWriter II and use it for parts. I'm not a fan of buying extra stuff, but in that case it might be a good investment as it will give you all the spare parts you may need in the future.

btw - nice 90's work setup! ;-)

Not sure where you are located, but you could check out this site: http://www.retrotechnology.com/herbs_stuff/mac.html

He's been selling old Macs and parts here for many years, and has a page devoted to printers and parts.  Might be worth asking if he has anything available.

Thanks for your replies, I will follow up with Herb though he may be out of business now.

Some good news - I exchanged emails with Herb Johnson late last week about a part I'm looking for.  He's still in business.

I believe it was a rebadged cannon bubblejet with a few tweaks bjc-4400 or 4200. So a few more options for parts. I need to get an ink cartridge for mine. I keep forgetting
