I need a SCSI CD-RW for my 5500. I'm going to try cleaning the lazer today, but I deifnately need a CDRW for archival purposes. I'll pay handsomely for a very fast shipment of a drive for me. I even have a IDE CD-RW to throw in for the buyer, 52x32x52. b |

For use with System 7, you'll have the best luck with a Yamaha SCSI CD-RW in combination with Toast 3.5

If you still need it, I have a used internal 16x/10x/40x CDRW (write/rewrite/read; all maximum speeds), Yamaha model CRW2100S available. I would sell for $60 + shipping. The Yamaha manual is available at: http://www.yamahamultimedia.com/yec/helpcenter/manuals/CRW2100S_E_A01.PDF Let me know if you're interested. This CDRW is currently installed and used in an 9600/233 running OS 9.x. If you need software, I may have Toast 4.x, but I don't know if it works with OS 7.x.

RE: CD-RW SCSI drive I had an APS external drive hooked to my IIci years ago. I still have a Plextor in my 9600. Both came with drivers. The Plextor is a burner. Search for these at online auctions, etc. You should be able to get drivers for either APS external or Plextor internal SCSI drives because APS started as a Mac supplier and both brands were and still are high end.
