I have one that definitely deserves a spot in the multimedia section of the software guide! Imageviewer: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/imageviewer-51 This media program allow you to create catalogs with thumbnails of videos, pictures and other media and it can play videos within the program. Worth noting that version 5.3.2 is the last 68k version of the program. Version 5.4.2 is also available for PPCs but is missing a serial number to register it. |

Great addition! Could you write some text about it that I could use on the page?

Sure, here you go! ![]() Name: ImageViewer 5.3.2 Type: Multimedia Description: ImageViewer is a powerful graphics viewer, organizer and editor perfect for locating, importing, displaying, organizing and printing a wide number of graphic formats, including MPEG files with QuickTime 3 or greater. ImageViewer lets you crop, scale, rotate and invert images, adjust brightness, contrast and sharpness, apply video effects with QuickTime 3 or greater and quickly open files in other graphic editors. You can access digital cameras using QuickTime image capture or scan images directly into ImageViewer with PhotoShop import plug-ins. You can also convert files from one format to another, create HTML "contact sheet" pages, play movies and more. Its custom view area lets you preview images before opening and find files on criteria like file type or comments. You can copy or move files to target folders and delete or move items to the trash. Single-image view modes include full screen, fit to window and scaled between 25% and 1600%. List-view modes include preview, icon or other file attributes based on custom layouts. The last 68k version was released October 18th of 2000. Edit: I just read the system requirements! I have to verify that this version of this sweet Mac software can indeed at least 'unofficially' run on Mac OS 7.6.1!

It's possible, just have to turn off various things (javascript, css, maybe even images), or even browse text-only using WannaBe (can't search directly though, gotta use the search plugins with that one).

I've been extracting a System 7.6.1 image in Basilisk for over five hours ![]() snes, the good news is that the macintosh garden website is in the process of becoming classic-friendly, so sometime in the future this concern won't be a concern anymore. the other thing to consider is that by pointing to the garden is that it allows more traffic to reach the garden by the audience the system 7 today website attracts. it's good to have a system 7-specific site like this, but the garden's treasures are also enjoyed by mac os x users, system 9 users, and system 6 users. it's kind of the Cheers of Macintosh: the hub everyone can enjoy everything Mac and help each other out

cballero i remember visiting this website in the early part of 2019 and all the files specific to system 7 were downloadable right from this website with no redirecting whatsoever also what happened to the downloads for internet explorer 4.5 and outlook use those two a lot on my windows 98 rig ( my dad hates macs with a passion calls the original iMac a fisher-price toy that failed and he constantly has been trying to get me to build a windows rig so i built one from cheap parts i don't blame him he constantly thinks my macbook has a touch screen probably because the only apple device he pretty much ever uses is a iPad i got for him for Christmas and repaired he loves pcs so much hes worked at the same hospital call center job for 21 years because of the fact that they stick to pc's his first PC was a Tandy that his girlfriend got for him in college i just built it to make him happy and yes i constantly use both operating systems daily and a little Linux on the side) but yeah knezzen why not bring back those embedded links it might be a total benefit for system 7 users

There's a couple of stuff that we're hosting directly on S7T, usually smaller files. As for the others - you know that we're part of the Mac Garden network and as such it makes sense to combine our strength. cballero put it very nicely (thanks!). You can access the Mac Garden perfectly fine from a System 7 Mac. As an iCab user and I can even post in the forums over there. If you just want to quickly download a file use wannabe. And that new version of the Mac Garden will be sheer awesomeness in retro compatibility. Fogwraith is working hard on it and doing an awesome job. Check out the public alpha: http://macintosh.garden/

I've also used icab successfully in using the Mac Garden, but the retro-beta will definitely be kickass when it's complete! ![]() Patience is the key operating word for all this ![]() If you really want the old links back (kinda sorta) you could wrangle the downloads from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, but it entails copying each link manually. I tried it and it works (kinda sorta) but it's still a pain in the rear tbh: It takes four simple-to-follow steps: 1. You click on software page you want from here: https://web.archive.org/web/20151021121723id_/http://main.system7today.com/softwareindex/internet.html 2. You right-click on the software link and copy it from the page you picked. 3. You open the Internet Archive link below and paste the link you copied into the Wayback Machine search field: https://web.archive.org/ 4. You click on the single 2020 link that shows up on the wayback machine calendar and the software will download. Easy Peasey Lemon-Squeezey

If you're running 9.2.2, you should be using Classilla. But prior to that, you will probably have the best luck with rendering modern pages using iCab (available in both 68k and PPC). However, iCab is fairly slow, so you need a relatively fast machine to make the best use of it.

Exactly! I meant the macintosh.garden website when I said retro-beta ![]() I definitely concur that the Classila will be best suited for your G3 iBook - very nice laptop btw ![]() And anything Internet on System 7 on 68k Macs, like on Basilisk II for example, won't be fast with iCab, or any other web browser for that matter, except without images. The way that works on a 68k Mac or emulator is by either using the WannaBe text-based web browser or turning off image loading on your 68k browser, which should work on any browser of that period because that was a big (and essential) speed-feature back in the day for faster web browsing.

I like to use WannaBe even under 9.2.2.
