Hi all, long time Mac and Linux user here. Grateful for help on formating the 4Gig non-apple drive for my centris 650. Currently I'm trying to revive a IIci that has a dead logic board. I recapped it with tantalums and it now powers up and the drive spins, but I get the "chimes of death". Swapping out the RAM and reseting the PROM to defaults hasn't worked. Oh well. :^( |

Cleaning the contacts for the RAM, and all the other connectors is often successful in getting machines from long time storage back in use. If the older capacitors had started leaking, it might be worthwhile was the MB and clean off any gunk. The gunk is conductive material and can cause short circuits with tiny IC pins. Anyway welcome aboard. Keep us posted on your successes and failures. bill
