So we go back to floppies? I just tried this, and it works for me: Take a floppy to your Quadra an format it as Mac disk with the name Mac, for example. Copy a small file onto it, just for reference. Take the floppy to your XP system. Insert floppy. Start HFV-Explorer. Now you should see the volume Mac as topmost entry on the left window. Click on Mac, and voila, there is the file you put on it with the Quadra. Now you can put needed sit files on the Mac disk and carry it to your Quadra. Unfortunately the sit file´s resource fork is still lost. You will have to have a suitable Stuffit expander installed on the Quadra and drag the sit file onto it. Another thought - BasiliskII build 142 for Windows does read Mac floppies, if they are HD. In the GUI, you must set Floppy to A:\ and select mode read write. This may be a better way for you, as you can also move working Mac apps. If you have set up BII-142 with a OS8 CD image, remember to press Control-Shift-F11 to tell BII to mount/reload the disk.

If possible that i have problem because I use Transmac on Parallels? I have also an Olidata PC with Windows xp, i will try to create the floppies with it, and so i can see if the virtual machine is the problem... unfortunately i have Basilisk II on the MacBook Pro, so is a version for mac and not includes support for floppies....

I never tried Parallels and had only a short look at TransMac, as they still want money for it. To my knowledge, the emulated devices with Virtual Box for example are working well, but I didn´t try BII-145 in a Windows virtual machine so far. For your BII setup, Systems 7.5 or 7.6 will work too, of course. 7.1 will not enable the shared folder (Desktop) with BII, for what reason ever. Best try BII-145 with an old box that has a floppy drive with 34-pin flat ribbon cable. If you have only one floppy it would usually be assigned as "A" with Windows. If you already have a working disk image for BII, it should run fine on a Windows host with Build 142. Some people say, Lauri Pesonen´s build BII-145 was the best for Windows hosts, as it had a wide variety of available settings for e.g SCSI drives.

First, i download the files with Safari, and it uncompressed them with loss of data, and after i transfer on mine virtual machine Parallels (windows XP). Now i download directly from the Virtual Machine, so i have all the data files! Can you suggest me what version of OT and AppleShare can i download? i have just installed DiskImage 6.3.3 and Stuffit 5.5 and they works well, now i have to install OT and Appleshare. I try to install OT 1.1.2 from apple but quadra told me that required a previous version for install, can you suggest me a link to download these programs? Max

OK, I see. Thats why I am using Firefox on all my machines :-) For your networking issue this looks promising: http://www.vintagemacworld.com/mactcpip.html The article points to this Apple site: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/MultiCountry/Macintosh/Networking-Communications/Network_Software_Installer/

To me, it looks as Network Software Installer Version 1.5.1 (NSI) is what you will need. Alas, I have no machine to try with. If I recall right, I was using Apple Ethernet NB driver with my MacII, but you have ethernet built in luckily. The driver for that and other stuff is on the disk. The file from Apple´s server will inflate to a DiskCopy4.2 image. Should not be a problem, as it SEA, self extracting archive.

Nothing... The Quadra cannot connect to the iMac G3 also after the installation of the Network Software Installer Version 1.5.1 (NSI). So I think i have to install Open Transport, but 7.1 supported it?
