My first Mac was a PowerMac 6100/60AV that I bought from the back of Macworld magazine in 1994 or '95. I remember how fast it was when I got it and how incredibly slow it was when I had OS9 on it. I learned how to use Photoshop and After Effects on that machine and eventually became an animator for television (motion graphics, not character or 3D animator). I've since moved on to other things but always loved my first Mac and fiddling with Conflict Catcher to keep things running smooth. I am currently posting on Craigslist looking for a good deal on an 8600 or 9600. Hopefully, I'll be back in the past soon. Gary Ocean Grove, NJ |

Gary You're looking for an 8600? "looking for a good deal on an 8600 or 9600" See my 8600 FS posting on this site. I'll include the keyboard/mouse for the $50 price.

I got my new (old) PowerMac 9600/200 up and running. I picked it up a few weeks ago but just found the time to start it up for the first time. It came running OS 8.5.1 so now I obviously need to down (up!)-grade it to System 7.6.1. Which brings me to my first and foremost question: were the heck do I find a copy of System 7.6? No luck on eBay. If anyone can help me there, please reply. Thanks. Gary

I must have mistyped on eBay. I did it again and found a few copies for sale.
